Ladies Walk Talk Therapy
If you are a woman and agree with any of the following read more below...
- I feel inhibited in one to one sessions in a room facing a therapist
- I want to escape my immediate surroundings, walk by the water and take in the sea air
- I find sharing my thoughts and feelings in a conventional face to face environment uncomfortable and intense
- I struggle to get out and do any exercise because anxiety/ depression is holding me back
- I want to combine some exercise with therapy to save time in my busy life
- I would like to develop mindfulness to help relieve stress, anxiety/ depression
- I recognise the physical and mental benefits of exercise and would like to do more
- I like walking but prefer not to go on my own or in groups
- I spend a lot of time stuck indoors
How Walk Talk Therapy can help you...
Walk Talk Therapy can get you moving physically but also get things moving for you in other ways. According to Kate Hays PhD, author of Working It Out Using Exercise in Psychotherapy, there are three main reasons for combining exercise and therapy:
- * It encourages a patient to be more physically active for mental and physical reasons
- * It helps a patient get “unstuck” when confronting difficult issues
- * It spurs creative, deeper ways of thinking often released by mood-improving physical activity
You may benefit in other ways too and trying to pinpoint what these are is a very important first step to being the new you. Try it and see!
How does it work?
I offer 30, 60 and 90 minute Walk Talk Therapy sessions in Clevedon. These sessions are suitable for anyone and you can set the pace we walk to suit you.
Walk Talk Therapy routes will always include walking along the sea front as this can be most uplifting and revitalising. Over the years I have done these walks regularly and now I walk these with my clients.
If you think you may want to make notes on anything you find useful we can either set time aside to do this at the end or use a voice to text application as we go along.
Other benefits...
- Very few of us get the 2.5 hours exercise per week recommended by the NHS and this is one way to incorporate more exercise into your week or month whilst working on issues you want to address
- If you want to overcome anxiety, depression or stress the great news is that simply getting out for a walk will help and the psychological therapy on top is a massive bonus!
- When one of your blocks to getting out is going alone this will help you build the confidence to do this

How do they differ from your other sessions?
In a Walk Talk Therapy session we will start by setting goals. During our walk you can talk freely through any issues that are facing you. Where appropriate I will use CBT therapy and NLP and teach you self help techniques such as Mindfulness.
A Walk Talk Therapy session differs from other sessions as I will not be making notes. These sessions are designed to help you sound out any ideas you have or talk about anything that may be troubling you.
